Ceramides are lipids that occur naturally in the skin and play a key role in maintaining the moisture level and firmness of the skin. A deficiency of the ceramides concentration in the skin will lead to the skin aging process as it allows penetration of damaging environmental elements and results in free radicals and evaporation of moisture.
